Dear parents, would you like your kids love reading? Dear students, would you like to discover new spells in Hogwarts with Harry Potter? What about a visit to the center of the earth to find a magnificent new world within our world? Or perhaps we can solve a complicated mystery with Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson? You might think: This isn't real. How can we possibly do that?
Well, the answer is quite clear! Through reading books, of course! People have been writing and reading books for centuries, and it's only made us smarter. You can experience Neverland's clear blue skies and the dark and mysterious rings of Dante's Inferno through books. You can tour all of Europe with Dan Brown or go on a wolf adventure with Jack London, all from the comfort of your own home and a great book.
Join us in the weekly Erudite Book Club to explore books of all genres, complexities, and lengths. Be prepared to read a lot but also enjoy a lot. Each month we will try to read a brand-new book and participate in a whole new adventure every month. Each week we will discuss the portion assigned to be read and do various activities to dive deeper into the book, its characters, plot, and themes.
We will do creative and artistic projects, written assignments, group collaborations, and much, much, more. Don't think of this as a class; think of it as an experience. We are here to learn, but there are no tests, no grades, just a group of people eager and excited to expand their intelligence through reading books.
"A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies . . . The man who never reads lives only one." – George R.R. Martin
